EMS ÀÏ˾»ú¸£ÀûÉç is pleased to announce that Derrick Doyle has been selected as the Chisholm Trail High School head band director. Doyle, formerly the CTHS assistant band director and percussion director, takes over the Director of Bands position from John Canfield who retires at the end of June.

Doyle has been a familiar face in EMS ÀÏ˾»ú¸£ÀûÉç for more than a decade. He first served at Saginaw High School as a percussion instructor before being named the assistant band director there, where he served alongside Canfield for five years. He then was selected as part of the inaugural staff to open Chisholm Trail High School in 2012. One of his first successes at CTHS was arranging the school fight song and alma mater.

“We are very excited that Mr. Derrick Doyle will be leading the Chisholm Trail High School Ranger Regiment as Director of Bands," said Shawn Bell, Director of Fine Arts. "Derrick is a meticulous leader who is student-centered in every way!”

As assistant director, Doyle has worked closely with the Ranger Regiment Marching Band as well as taught the CT Drumline and all percussion ensembles. He directed the CTHS Symphonic Band, involved the Drumline in numerous community performances, and taught percussion and assisted with bands at Ed Willkie Middle School to help prepare future Regiment members. Prior to coming to EMS ÀÏ˾»ú¸£ÀûÉç, Doyle served as a percussion instructor at the University of Arkansas, Abilene Christian University, and at Owasso High School in Oklahoma.

Doyle earned a Bachelor’s and Master’s in Music from the University of Arkansas. He also holds a Master of Divinity degree from Abilene Christian University. His professional affiliations include the Texas Music Educators Association, the Percussive Arts Society, Phi Mu Alpha professional music fraternity, Kappa Kappa Psi band service fraternity, Golden Key National Honor Society, and Pi Kappa Lambda national music honor society.

Doyle and his wife, Robin, have two children, four-year-old Chloe and two-year-old Daphne. They are members of The Hills Church in North Richland Hills. Doyle is an avid reader, and enjoys running, as well as rooting on his alma mater, the University of Arkansas Razorbacks, at every opportunity.

We are excited to welcome Doyle to this new role and look forward to the continued success of the award-winning Chisholm Trail High School Band Program under his leadership.
