• Contacting Your Elected Officials

In order to best represent you, our legislators must know the issues that matter most to you. Contact your legislators, and let your voice be heard. Here's a five-step process to help you write a letter/email or make a phone call/visit that will get noticed by your legislator:

    1. Identify yourself by name as a constituent who values the education your family receives in EMS ÀÏ˾»ú¸£ÀûÉç and is concerned about the financial challenges facing your district as a result of the state funding system.

    1. Focus on 2-3 of the 2023 Legislative Priorities that you believe are the biggest issues facing EMS ÀÏ˾»ú¸£ÀûÉç and explain how these issues will directly affect your child’s education. Information specific to EMS ÀÏ˾»ú¸£ÀûÉç may be helpful in your explanation.

    1. Express your expectation that the legislator will represent the interests of EMS ÀÏ˾»ú¸£ÀûÉç students and his/her constituents by supporting measures that promote success for Texas public schoolchildren in the upcoming legislative session.

    1. Thank the legislator for his/her time and efforts on behalf of EMS ÀÏ˾»ú¸£ÀûÉç students and families.

    1. Sign your name and home address. This is important so that the legislator knows you are a constituent in his/her district. You may also consider adding the names of the schools where your child(ren) attend(s), if applicable.
