In order to best represent you, our legislators must know the issues that matter most to you. Contact your legislators, and let your voice be heard. Here's a five-step process to help you write a letter/email or make a phone call/visit that will get noticed by your legislator:
Identify yourself by name as a constituent who values the education your family receives in EMS ÀÏ˾»ú¸£ÀûÉç and is concerned about the financial challenges facing your district as a result of the state funding system.
Focus on 2-3 of the 2023 Legislative Priorities that you believe are the biggest issues facing EMS ÀÏ˾»ú¸£ÀûÉç and explain how these issues will directly affect your child’s education. Information specific to EMS ÀÏ˾»ú¸£ÀûÉç may be helpful in your explanation.
Express your expectation that the legislator will represent the interests of EMS ÀÏ˾»ú¸£ÀûÉç students and his/her constituents by supporting measures that promote success for Texas public schoolchildren in the upcoming legislative session.
Thank the legislator for his/her time and efforts on behalf of EMS ÀÏ˾»ú¸£ÀûÉç students and families.
Sign your name and home address. This is important so that the legislator knows you are a constituent in his/her district. You may also consider adding the names of the schools where your child(ren) attend(s), if applicable.
