  • Wayside Tennis is open to all seventh and eighth-grade boys and girls.

    Beginning Tennis (6th period):

    This is an introductory class focusing on the fundamentals of tennis. Players are required to participate in basic tennis drills, competition against other players, and strength/conditioning activities.

    Players will need a current physical, a Wayside athletics uniform, an introductory tennis racquet, a water bottle, athletic shoes, and a hat.

    Athletics Tennis (8th period):

    This class is for experienced players who will participate in advanced tennis drills, competition against other players, and strenuous strength/conditioning activities.

    All players will need a current physical, a Wayside athletics uniform, one introductory or intermediate tennis racquet, a water bottle, athletic shoes, and a hat.

    Team Tennis:

    The Wildcat Tennis Team is comprised of both 7th and 8th-grade boys and girls who have been selected through a tryout process to compete in district competitions (see Rank One schedule for fall and spring seasons). In season, players will practice after school from 3:50 pm-5:00 pm each day, except for match days. Team players are not required to be enrolled in a tennis class.

    All team players will need a current physical, a Wayside athletics uniform, one intermediate or advanced tennis racquet, a water bottle, athletic shoes (preferably tennis-specific), and a hat.
